Students who can not read in middle school are at the bottom of the class and they are having problems in all subjects. If students can not read then they will be left behind. Normally if a child is having problems reading in middle school could be a hearing problem or a problem vision.
I ask a simple hearing test as read after me and I say a poem to see if the child can repeat what I said. If the child can not pronounce the words as I say then you can have a hearing problem.
To check the eyes, put a series of small points the board and ask the child how many. I make sure I see the points from which the child sits. If they can not see the points keep moving closer board until they can.
