
I just started reading Stephen Hawking's A Brief History of Time and wondering about something.?
He writes that when the sun goes down, not affect us until 8 minutes later due to the time it takes for light to travel to Earth. If this is true, we can build a machine that can make us travel faster that the speed of light (identified as "not allowed" in the book) and escape time, right? Then, somehow might be able to travel back in time, Right? If you have no idea what I'm talking about then I'm sorry for wasting your time .= P
Well, not really. If any matter begins traveling near the speed of light, mass becomes huge infinetely therefore impediing to travel at that speed. The math simply does not allow anything to travel at that speed.
