What 4.447Mbps (556KB / s) Download average speed, I'm getting 4 megs here or just half a Meg?
Please read the numbers care, I can not believe they mean my download is over 4 megs, but it? Also, my upload speed is 386Kbps, is that only one third of meg .. I ask because my online games, almost paralyzed by the early afternoon, when my download is half of the figs over and want to know if you complain to Orange (my server) .. Thanks for help.
Online games at this rate will have serious issues, especially with connectivity or 'lag'. 4.5Mb is what you're getting (as in the connection), but its actual speed is 1 / 2 Mb / s – which is rather low by today's standards. Some people receive ADSL speeds lower than this is limited by many factors. From what I remember of Orange to provide the broadband service to customers is free, so you can not expect incredible speeds. Other factor to consider is that you are on ADSL through a BT line, therefore the speed will vary on the distance from the center. Principles of the night will be the network when the traffic peaks, representing a decrease of speed, because many people in your area would be access to the Internet. You could try a speed test online, these are not totally accurate, but will give a better idea of your data connection, both upstream and downstream. Try http://www.speedtest.net (For the UK based on local servers, not the U.S. based on what speed would give very inaccurate) – you log your IP address, so you can check your speed against speed you've done in the past. Make sure to test before you click Settings in the first web page and choose the nearest server you to get best results. My own connection is 50 MB on a cable modem, but my download speed is around 6.6Mb/sec – this can be confusing. Hope that helps.
