The best way to partition hard Dirve for speed and stability?
I just got a SATA hard drive with 640gig Western Digital. I will use XP Pro Dell PC. Before installing the OS, I would like to know the best way to partition the hard disk. This PC is only for personal home use. I surf the Internet, I try out a lot of free software (freeware), I get involved with imaging software (Photoshop), I can download video files, photos, music, Deal etc. just a bit of everything. Do you suggest two partitions with the OS on drive C? I also read that it helps to have a second hard drive for physical swap file, so I will try to achieve that. Can I use my old hard drive as it is, to exchange files? Meaning: I do not want to erase (format) age unit, I attach it as is, with all its' files, programs, and has its own operating system (Windows XP Media Center). I use the old hard drive to swap files. Is this a viable plan?
I suggest you to make 4 partitions. And yes its good to connect both drives. You have to change the first device Boot to HDD1 (if HDD1 is the new BIOS) can return to 0 at the hard disk or feel so
