If you prefer more traditional books or classroom study, or wish to study online, there are a variety of programs for speed reading. All these methods are effective in their own right, with some advantages over others. The preferred method is down to the individual and their budget significantly.
The study of reading speed on a class or seminar type environment remains popular for many people and has both advantages and disadvantages over other methods. Groups smaller and one to one tutoring is a great advantage, but a large number of such courses have larger class sizes. The smaller the class size costing more in most cases and may have to travel to attend.
Those of us who prefer more hands on type of learning where you can ask questions and receive immediate answers tend to lean toward learning in the classroom.
The books are a good way of self study and have been used for centuries to do just that. Usually pretty cheap, allowing the flexibility for anyone to study at their own pace and in the surroundings of their choice. There are some drawbacks. The books are not as versatile as other forms of learning, because it can not be altered and tend to be less visually pleasing. Also less interactive books not to allow the reader to question a teacher if they have trouble understanding when being used for the study of oneself.
Traditional book learning is gradually being overcome by the use of computers and the internet where visualization and flexibility of learning are easier to control.
Study online is becoming more and more popular as time passes. The variety and content of online courses can be readily altered to maintain an interest students and can be changed quickly. Refer to other works is also much easier since only a click away via a link. These courses tend to be cheaper because they do not need an active teacher for submission. The need for both computer and Internet access is a potential drawback, but the generation has grown into a modern computer world. The questions can be answered immediately in most online courses, but you can usually get an answer within a decent timeframe.
