Can not boot Ubuntu from a CD?
I downloaded the ISO file of Ubuntu 7.10 and burned onto a CD-RW with Disk Utility in Mac OS X. I tried the CD in another computer and it works fine, but my Toshiba Protege 7220CTE not boot from it. Then I tried a DVD-R with the same result. I set to boot from the CD to the hard hard, but not even read the CD. I have asked some of the free CDs of Ubuntu, but who were burned at a speed too high and could not be read by all my computers. I'm burning ISO file wrong? Or can my laptop not just read CD-RW? It has a combo drive CD-R/DVD-R. If not, the problem can be solved if I bought a few CD-Rs and burn? Or Should I buy an Ubuntu CD? Yes, it is compatible with the hardware. I checked prior to ordering the CD. The boot CDs are ordered the installation screen, but are unable to read more. I just want to know if I'm burning the ISO probably wrong because the computer does not boot from the CD I did.
Have you checked the compatibility of this distribution to see if it is compatible with your hardware? You can not its blockade because someting on your laptop is to prevent the load. Try a distribution different. Here are two that I use: http://www.pclinuxos.com/ http://www.novell.com/products/opensuse/ ******* ************* *** under this label Mac than a PC CD ISO is an ISO standard would suggest that this distribution is free What you have to lose
